Transformation through Church Planting: Crosspoint
Crosspoint is the name of the hub church in Bluffton that will open March 2008. This new congregation will be the launching pad for several new congregations that will start over the next few years. Not only will Crosspoint be an active church reaching people for Christ , it will become a center for training and deploying church planters throughout the Savannah River area.

rl Martin, former pastor of East Pickens Baptist Church, is senior pastor of Crosspoint and will head up our church planting efforts. He, his wife Peggi, and daughter Lauren (pictured at left) will be moving in July. Below is an update from Carl on this new adventure. Carl will present a report on Crosspoint at the Executive Board meeting Monday, July 23.
Personal
Peggi, my wife, started her teaching responsibilities in Beaufort County Monday, July 9. We are still in transition as our house in Pickens has not sold yet. We are scheduled to close on the house we are considering in Bluffton on July 30. We have two options for temporary housing, and the movers are set for home delivery shortly after closing.
Ministry
Momentum is building as we have seen many personal and ministry confirmations along the journey. God is bringing so many people who do not have a personal relationship with Jesus across our paths. We are meeting some brothers and sisters in strategic places of leadership who have offered their assistance, and God is moving upon the hearts of churches to give "start up" funds for necessary ministry items, too.
We have some wonderful churches partnering with us as we begin our adventure together with our dear brothers and sisters of the Low Country. I am so looking forward to all that God has for all of us as we begin, together, to train and to deploy church planters.
Since the beginning of this year, several churches have joined Bluffton FBC in giving monthly to the Derris A. Davenport New Work Fund. Thank you to these congregations that have committed to give on a monthly basis:
