Winter Olympics 2010

On Friday, February 19th twenty-one people from South Carolina, including 6 from our own association will board a plane for Vancouver to participate in the More Than Gold mission experience at the 2010 Winter Olympics. During this 10 day trip, we will have the opportunity to be involved in several different ministries including hospitality ministries such as handing out water and hot coffee, working the hospitality booths at parking lots, talking with people in the crowd at some of the street performance events and then lots of one on one evangelism as we ride the bus, wait in lines and just go about our days. The following people are going from SRBA.

   Larry Leming – SRBA staff

   Pat Nolan – BCOB

   Richard Spearman – St. Helena

Bob Valentine – St. Helena/Hunting Island Chaplain

Mary Ellen Hill – 1st Bluffton

   Jan Oliver – 1st Bluffton

Listed below are some prayer requests for this mission experience. Thank you in advance for praying for us and for those who live in or will visit Vancouver during these winter games.

  • Please pray for safe travels for our teams and all the others that will be ministering there
  • Pray that new doors of ministry will continue to open in Vancouver and the surrounding areas
  • Pray that the people will be receptive to the good news we are going to share
  • Pray that we will be obedient to God as he calls us to minister in a wide variety of ways
  • Pray that the existing evangelical community in Vancouver will feel encouraged by our help and will be renewed in their commitment to reaching their world after we are gone

We will be doing daily blog updates while in Vancouver, posting pictures, prayer requests and stories from our trip. If you would like to follow along with us on this journey, you can access the blog at the following address: http://missionvancouver-scbc.blogspot.com/ Please follow us daily beginning February 19th.   God bless!!!!
