LOL ’08 Makes Lasting Impact

One-hundred fifty-nine youth from across Beaufort and Jasper Counties participated in Live Out Loud ’08, an event sponsored by Savannah River Baptist Association and Charleston Southern University on February 1. These kids represented 17 SRBA churches and 13 churches from outside the association. Sixteen teenagers (10%) reported no affiliation with any church.

The evening featured a concert by Jack Eason and the Sound of Light, a Christian band based in Spartanburg. Brent Crowe, a nationally known speaker, shared the Gospel. Twenty-seven kids made decisions to follow Christ. Thirteen were professions of faith and 11 were recommitments.

This association-wide event helped our churches fulfill the Kingdom initiative to transform our community by the sharing the Gospel. It was made possible through a partnership with Charleston Southern University, a SC Baptist school in Charleston. Skip Owens, Director of Denomination Relations, represented CSU in the event. Several SRBA churches made financial contributions towards the free event.

LOL’08 is another example of how SRBA churches are united to carry out Christ’s mission, partner with like-minded entities, and are carrying through their commitment to live out God’s Kingdom initiatives.
