Collaborative Planning Process Timeline

Collaborative Planning Process Timeline

This collaborative process is designed to get a wide-range of church participation in determining future initiatives for the association to pursue for 3 to 5 years. The process is designed to gather representatives from all SRBA churches to have result-based conversations, i.e., dialogue that centers on shared knowledge, mutual goals, and agreed upon action that produce desired results.

Here are important dates that the Planning Process will follow:

January 25: Executive Board elects a Futuring Team to guide the collaborative planning process.

February 9: Orientation and training of the Futuring Team by Monty Hale, Director of the SCBC Association & Pastoral Ministries Office

March 14-April 10: Observe a 28-day prayer focus to support the ongoing work of our churches and to prepare our leaders to hear and follow God’s leadership as we plan our next strategy.

Saturday, April 17: Conduct a collaborative forum where representatives from all of our churches gather and go through a 3 hour process that will allow them to receive information about the association and its ministry area, give input into what that information means and discuss how it should impact our future strategy.  By the end of that time, the major areas of focus will be revealed. This will be SRBA’s Spring Session.

July 27: The Futuring Team will process the information from the collaborative forum and prepare a preliminary report for the July Executive Board meeting. The Executive Board will hear, discuss, and make recommendations for further exploration/study/action.

September 20: The Futuring Team would present a recommendation at the Executive Board meeting.  The Board would approve or revise and approve the recommendation to be presented to the messengers of the 2010 Fall Session.

October 19: The Futuring Team would present the recommend focus and initiatives for the next 3-5 years to the messengers at the 2010 Fall Session for adoption.
