Welcome to LowCountry Collegiate Ministries!

In the Fall 2009, I extended an invitation to our churches in the Bluffton/Hardeeville area to join together to form a task force to begin a campus ministry with the University of South Carolina Beaufort. Our hopes were to start a ministry with the South (Hardeeville) campus that would grow to include efforts on both campuses and with the Technical College of the Lowcountry. The goal is to serve the campus, to place a Christian presence among the students through Bible studies and events, and to help connect students to SRBA churches.

Several of our churches have gotten involved: Red Dam, Maye River, Hardeeville FBC, BCOB, Bluffton FBC, and Crosspoint. Ken Owens, Campus Ministry Group Director for SC Baptist Convention, has helped us organize and meet with campus authorities. LowCountry Collegiate Ministries is now a recognized campus entity.

JD Harvey, Trades Manager of USCB and member of Red Dam, is serving as the faculty representative of the group. We have students from SRBA churches who will be student officers in the organization and the task force is working on a charter for the ministry.

The campus administration has opened the door widely for us to serve the campus and its students. The only stipulations that we have been given is that we cannot receive any University funding and everything we do must be open to everyone on campus. The Director of student Life has even offered to include our information in emails that she sends to all students and faculty.

The main focus of the task force now is to organize a kickoff event for next the fall semester and strategize ministry for the campus. The group is examining several options and looking at different ways in which to meet students. Please pray for this task force and the students involved.
