Missions - What is it? by Larry Leming, Missions Ministries Director
Over the past few years of serving as a North American Missionary here in the lowcountry of SC, I have often been asked what it is like to be a missionary, what do I do, what is missions and other similar questions. I am always amazed by other’s perceptions of missions and missionaries. Some think that one has to do missions full-time to be a missionary, others feel that missions is something done only overseas, while others are blown away by the fact that there are North American missionaries. I always try to leave people with the understanding that missions, no matter where you are or who you are, is simply seeing the world through God’s eyes and acting upon it. What will that look like? Well, it is as varied as the world in which we live, but one thing is for sure. It will always be about serving others in order to earn the right to share Christ.
