Jasper Region Youth Share Joint Mission Adventure

On July 11, five churches from the Jasper County area banded together with four SRBA collegiate summer missionaries to spread the gospel through VBS in Inez, KY. Thirty-three members from Ridgeland Baptist, Gillisonville Baptist, Great Swamp Baptist, Pine Level Baptist and Gospel Lighthouse Church and the four missionaries all set out for one mission, to teach a community about the unfailing love of Jesus Christ.

Each day began with some type of mission work for Haven of Rest Family Ministries, a ministry home providing free lodging for families coming to visit loved ones currently incarcerated in Big Sandy Federal Prison. Mission work included mowing the lawns, cleaning the pantries and spreading gravel in the parking areas. Afterwards, team members headed out to Warfield Park in Inez to worship with local children through Vacation Bible School. Several evenings following VBS, outreach programs such as toy/diaper drives, clothing/shoe drives, dinner, ice cream social and musical concerts by The Lighthouse Singers were put on by the volunteers.

The week resulted in 9 people making professions of faith, praise the Lord! Just when the thought was “We will all give a blessing,” suddenly it changed to, “Wow, what a blessing we received.”
